WESTON, W. Wayne Weston
August 15, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of W. Wayne Weston, of London, Ontario, on August 15th, 2026. Wayne built a wonderful life with his beloved wife, Sharon, and was immensely proud of his five children: Kimberly Henderson (Dean), Lisa Weston Tourigny, Zach Weston (Brenda), Josh Weston (Christine), and Matt Weston. He cherished his seven grandchildren: Luc Tourigny (Ashley), Charlie Weston, Andrew Henderson, Samuel Weston, Nicole Henderson (Cole Nichols), Claire Weston, and Nathan Weston. He is survived by his loving sister, Sandra Allen; his brothers-in-law: John OβBrien, Ade OβBrien (Paulette), Brian OβBrien, Art Harron; and his many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Wayne was predeceased by his parents, Sternie and Mae Weston; his brothers and sisters in-law: Patsy OβBrien, Jim OβBrien, Susie Harron, Mike OβBrien, Andy OβBrien, Jack Allen; and his nephew, Andrew Forbes.
A fierce snowstorm prevented the doctor from reaching the family farm in the Eastern Townships of Quebec, so Wayneβs grandmother safely welcomed him into the world. His family moved to Toronto where Wayne attended Jarvis Collegiate Institute. An avid scout, Wayne was promoted to the rank of Queen Scout and was thrilled to attend the 1957 World Scout Jubilee Jamboree in England. Wayneβs years at the University of Toronto earned him not only a medical degree, but his greatest blessing, his cherished wife, Sharon.
Following their marriage, Wayne and Sharon settled in Tavistock, where Wayne devoted ten years to caring for local families. He then brought that same dedication to the University of Western Ontario in London, spending more than three decades enriching the Department of Family Medicine as a physician, educator, and researcher.
Wayne was a leader in patient-centered medicine, publishing more than 200 articles and book chapters, co-editing two books, and delivering hundreds of presentations around the world. His contributions earned him numerous honours, including four national teaching awards.
A lifelong photography enthusiast, Wayne documented family milestones through thousands of photographs, which he lovingly transformed into birthday cards and annual family calendars.
Wayne was a devoted father who led by example, instilling a strong work ethic, compassionate spirit, and love of learning in his children. He fostered a lifelong appreciation for music, movies, and the arts. We have lasting memories of family slide shows, dad jokes, games of pool, decorating the Christmas tree, family road trips, and spirited conversations around the dinner table.
Wayne treasured the people in his life, and he valued their friendship. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Wayneβs legacy will continue through the many lives he enriched and inspired.
