Hass Ruth

HASS, Ruth Hass – With broken hearts the family of Ruth Haas sadly announce her passing on Sat. July 6, 2024. Ruth Babette Haas (nee Rehberger) was born on April 22, 1934, in Pfaffengrund, Germany. Ruth was the beloved wife of Hans for 71 years and the two were inseparable until her last breath.

Ruth was the loving mother to Edeltraud (deceased 1982), Heidi (deceased 2022), Ilona, Hans, Michael and Kristina.

Much loved mother-in-law to Chester, Antonella, Kerri and Peter. Precious Oma to Jason, Simone, Katrina, Austin, Lukas, Daniel, Thomas, Arianna and great Oma to Georgia, Daisie May and Sophie.

Ruth will forever be loved and cherished by her sister-in-law Gretel and her many nieces and nephews.

Ruth and Hans were married in Germany and moved to Canada in 1956 with their eldest daughter. They settled in Oshawa in 1972 and raised their large family.

Ruth was a truly exceptional cook and was famous for her cheesecake, applecake, potato pancakes, rolladen and dumplings and of course her German coffee. Ruth and Hans loved to entertain family and friends at their home. Consider yourself privileged to have sat at her dinner table.

Those in the Oshawa community knew Ruth for her fiery spirit and kindness. Ruth leaves a legacy of love, kindness, generosity, and zest for life. We will never forget her warm smile, big heart and sparkling blue eyes.

Ruth will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by all.

Ruth’s family will meet friends at ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME located at 124 King St. E. Oshawa, ON L1H 1B6 on Tues. July 9th from 2:00 p.m – 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
