John Cameron Aird
August 4, 1931 – March 17, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Cameron Aird, aged 93, on March 17, 2025. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, John was a man of great character and integrity who touched the lives of everyone around him.
John was predeceased by his beloved wife, Jean, and now, after a long and full life, he will spend eternity by her side. He was a proud and devoted father to John (Allison), Jean, and Marion, and a loving Grandpa to Lisa (Colin), Valerie (Ryan), Alana (Johnathan), Cameron (Alex), and Fiona. His grandchildren were the light of his life—he cherished their long telephone conversations, inside jokes, and stories shared together.
A veteran of the Korean War, John served with distinction as a Non-Commissioned Officer in the 1st Battalion Royal Scots from 1952 to 1954. His time in service shaped the values he carried throughout his life: duty, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to others.
He had a deep love for animals and was known for his kindness toward every creature in need. An avid photographer, John earned the title of “family paparazzi,” always eager to preserve life’s beautiful moments and share them with loved ones. He was also a captivating storyteller whose tales brought laughter, comfort, and perspective to every gathering.
Professionally, John earned the respect of his peers as a skilled and dedicated manager in the elevator industry, leaving behind a legacy of leadership and excellence.
A private family service will be held to honour John's life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Parkinson Society.
Memories and notes of condolence may be shared at McEACHNIE FUNERAL HOME.
