Richard Anthony Allen
March 8, 1945 - October 1, 2024
The family of Richard Allen is deeply saddened to announce his passing at Sunnybrook Hospital on October 1, 2024, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Richard will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 33 years, Patricia, his first wife Valerie, and their three daughters, Julie (Patrick), Faye (Kent), and Amy. He will forever remain in the hearts of his grandchildren, Jack, Jake, Jess, Tyson, Max, and Maggie, nephew Kenny, great-grandchildren Elliot and Beckham, and the children of his late brother John, Claire and Young John.
Richard moved to Toronto, Canada from England in 1974 with his young family for a fresh start and adventure. First a jack of all trades, he later opened the famous Mr. Meat Pie shop before finding his true calling in the film industry. His love of family and friends, both in Canada and England, shone through in his many stories, jokes, and songs—often repeated more than once. His passion for fishing and unwavering support of Queens Park Rangers F.C. was infectious and inspiring.
As per Richard's wishes, a private service will be held for immediate family. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses at Sunnybrook Hospital for their exceptional care and support throughout Richard’s illness.
A celebration of Richard’s life will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2024, from 2-5 p.m. at The Leaside Pub (190 Laird Drive, Toronto). Friends and loved ones are invited to gather and share memories, stories, jokes, and raise a pint in his honor. Cheers Matey!
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Sunnybrook Hospital palliative unit would be appreciated.
