Jeanette Victoria Anbinder (née Paskaruk), born in Winnipeg in September 1934, passed away peacefully at Southlake Regional Health Centre on November 29, 2024, at the age of 90, due to complications from COPD. Predeceased by her parents, Alexander and Lena Paskaruk (née Storoschuk), and her brother, William Paskaruk, Jeanette is lovingly remembered by her sons Larry (Carolyn) and Jerry (Aerin), and her grandchildren David (Melanie) and Nicole (Jonathan).
Of Ukrainian descent, Jeanette proudly shared the traditions, history, and cultural heritage of her roots. She was an inspiring example of resilience and strength, raising two sons as a single parent while maintaining a productive career and serving as a dedicated volunteer in her community.
Jeanette held leadership roles in her church, the Lions Club, Fred Varley Art Gallery, and the York Symphony Orchestra. As an environmental pioneer, she started a volunteer-led recycling program in Unionville in the 1970s and later managed the City of Markham's recycling program, earning numerous awards and recognition for her efforts.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Chapel Ridge Funeral Home, 8911 Woodbine Avenue, Markham, ON.
Memorial donations in Jeanette's memory may be made to the Southlake Hospital Foundation or The Heart and Stroke Foundation.
