PAPAIOANNOU, Arlene (nee Mulder) - It is with deep sorrow and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Arlene Papaioannou (nee Mulder) on October 6, 2018 at the age of 49 years.
More than anything, Arlene loved being married to her husband and soul mate Greg for 23 years and being a mother to their remarkable son Ryan, whom she loved and cherished. Arlene was predeceased by her children Faith and Braeden.
Daughter of Oakie and Henrietta Mulder. Sister of Robert (Mandy), David (Rachel) and Michael (Kimberly). Devoted aunt to Jaia, Kylie, Maggie, Jack and Liam. Also mourning her death are mother-in-law Ioanna, brother-in-law Chris and sister-in-law Sue (John).
Devoted aunt to Daniel and Evan. Predeceased by father-in-law Kostas, brothers-in-law Danny and Louie. Arlene will also be missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Arlene also held a very special place for her cherished friends Greta, LeeAnn, Jody and Susan, with whom she shared many good times and memories.
Arlene was an incredibly determined woman. Whether it was studying to become a paralegal, training for a triathlon or in her fight against her illness, she was a fighter right to the end. She will always be remembered for her commitment to family, her wonderful sense of humour and her tenacity in setting and achieving her goals.
Arlene was grateful for the exceptional health care that she received at the JCC under the care of Dr. Oren Levine and nurse Kathy Ward.
Visitation will take place at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, 1010 Botanical Drive, Burlington on Thursday, October 11 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the Chapel on Friday, October 12 at 11:00 am, after which Arlene will be laid to rest at Woodland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to McMaster Children’s Hospital.
