Arnold, Frank Emile Carrington—Passed away peacefully on Monday, October 21, 2024, in his 98th year. Frank was born on July 30, 1926, in Paignton, close to Torquay in Great Britain. After an apprenticeship with the Royal Navy, he rose to the rank of Chief Petty Officer, serving with dignity in the Korean War.
During a leave, Frank met the love of his life, Berenice (nee Jones, predeceased in 2019), while she was working as a nurse in Bermuda. They were married in Malta, where they lived while he was on active duty. Upon leaving the navy, they resided in Cornwall, where their son Richard was born in 1957. After moving to Canada in 1958 and settling in Hamilton, their son John was born in 1959. Frank enjoyed a 25-year career with Otis Elevator before taking on a position at Mohawk College as a commissioner, where he proudly worked until his retirement at age 70.
Frank loved his family deeply and shared his love for camping, canoeing, and cross-country adventures throughout Canada and the U.S. An avid Yankees and Maple Leafs fan, he was also passionate about the Humane Society and animal protection. Frank was a dedicated member of St. Bartholomew’s Church (now Church of the Resurrection), known for his deep, melodic singing voice.
