Mario Attina
November 13, 1937 - November 7, 2024
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of a beloved husband, father, and Nonno, Mario Attina, in the early hours of November 7, 2024, just shy of his 87th birthday. Born in San Lucido, Italy, Mario was a proud and skilled barber, practicing his craft for over 73 years.
Mario leaves behind his loving wife, Erminia (nee Amendola); his daughters, Teresa (Paul Johnston), Marcella (David Harrison), and Stephanie (Bryan Armstrong); and six cherished grandchildren: Claire, Abbigale, Matthew, Isabelle, Mason, and Liam. He is predeceased by his son Luigi (1972) and remembered by his siblings Luigi (Anna), Franco (Sara), Mirella (Radolfo), and predeceased siblings Maria (Fladamino) and Egido (Anna). Mario was a devoted friend and family man, treasuring connections with family near and far.
Mario’s life was filled with love for nature and adventure, spanning multiple continents. His journeys took him to Brazil, France, and Canada, where he finally settled and met the love of his life. An enthusiastic fisherman, he shared many trips and meals with family, and took great pride in his homemade wine, sausages, and tomato sauces, a tradition that connected him to his roots.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to friends, family, and the medical teams at Lakeridge Health and Princess Margaret Hospital for their care and support. Mario’s legacy of kindness, warmth, and wisdom will remain with us always.

Sunday, November 10th, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
Monday, November 11th, 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm.
Funeral Service:
Monday, November 11th at 1:00 pm in the Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment to follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Whitby.
