Rosaria "Rosie" Carmen (Cassar) Baertsoen
October 16, 1935 – December 25, 2024
It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Rosaria “Rosie” Carmen (Cassar) Baertsoen on December 25, 2024, in her 89th year. God called our faithful angel home on Christmas Day, her favorite season of the year, to be with all the angels that have gone before us.
Beloved wife of 63 years to Norbert Baertsoen. Dearest mother to Michelle (Michael) Decock, Christopher (Kerry) Baertsoen, and Pierre (Joanne) Baertsoen. Rosie will forever be cherished and remembered by her grandchildren, Justine (Joshua), Erika (Jonathan), Alicia (Kyle), Juliana, and Hayden. She was predeceased by her beautiful granddaughter, Victoria. Very special Buznanna to Callen, Brenley, and Malia.
Born in Malta, Rosie was the loving daughter of the late Anthony and Rosina (Briffa) Cassar. She was a devoted sister to her siblings: Elvira Wade, Tony Cassar, and Joyce (Ivan) Williamson. Predeceased by her siblings Lina, Doris, Frank, George, and Mary, as well as her dear cousin, Elvira Martini. She will be fondly remembered by her many dear friends, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins from both the Cassar and Baertsoen families.
Rosie immigrated to Canada in 1951 and lived in London, Ontario, before moving to Wallaceburg in 1961 after her marriage. She was a pillar of strength for her family and a devoted Catholic. A member of the Our Lady Help of Christians Parish and the Catholic Women’s League, her faith in God was the foundation of her life, and it reflected in her actions and love for others.
Visitation will take place at Haycock-Cavanagh Funeral Home, 409 Nelson Street, Wallaceburg, on Sunday, December 29, from 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm. The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at Our Lady Help of Christians Church in Wallaceburg at 11:00 am on Monday, December 30, followed by interment at Riverview Cemetery.
If desired, donations to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Wallaceburg or the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation: Sydenham Campus may be left at the funeral home (www.CavanaghFuneralHome.ca). Online memories and condolences may also be shared on their website.
