Elderly woman with glasses and patterned blouse

Ivy “Doreen” Bagshaw

April 14, 1931 - April 7, 2025

It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Doreen on Monday, April 7, 2025 at Victoria Hospital in London, Ontario. Doreen (née Wakelin), was the beloved wife of the late Gordon Ray Bagshaw (2000).

Much loved mother of Eleanor Hardman (late Kevin), Carl Bagshaw (Debra), and Anne MacDonald (Ken). Cherished grandmother of Allison Hardman, Joanne Rowles (Chris), Mark MacDonald (Chantelle), and Paul MacDonald (Karen). Great-grandmother of Nathaniel, Nicholas, Olivia, Luke, Finley, and Duncan.

Predeceased by her parents Norman and May Wakelin, her sisters Muriel Budd, Norma Campbell, Dorothy Corner, and her infant brother Arthur. Doreen will be fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.

Doreen grew up in Cannington, Ontario on a fox farm, the youngest of four sisters. She completed high school and worked in Toronto for Bell Canada. One fateful evening, she met the love of her life at a dance near Port Bolster, leading to a lifelong marriage and farm life together.

After raising her children, Doreen dedicated time to volunteer work with the Uxbridge Hospital Auxiliary and was active in the UCW of Vroomanton and Sunderland United Churches. She was a proud supporter of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Blue Jays, and the sport of curling.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the Chartwell Riverside and Victoria Hospital staff for their excellent care.

The family of Doreen Bagshaw will receive friends at the Wagg Funeral Home, 216 Queen Street, Port Perry on Saturday, April 12, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. A service to celebrate her life will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel. Interment will take place at Bagshaw Cemetery later in the spring.

If desired, memorial donations may be made to St. Andrew’s United Church in Sunderland or the Port Perry Hospital Foundation.
