Grace Bajema
1926 – 2024
Grietje "Grace" Bajema (nee Albada) was received into the loving arms of Jesus her Savior on Wednesday, November 21, 2024, in Port Perry, at age 98. She was born May 14, 1926, in Wittebrug, Friesland, Netherlands. Grace was predeceased by her dearly loved husband of 57 years, Clarence, her daughter Marilyn, and her infant daughter Lucille. Beloved mother of Andy and Ann Julia (Pete). Loving grandmother of Michelle (Pat), Jeff (Ceri), and Jeremy (Dana), and great-grandmother of Chloe, Addison, Harper, Jade, and Denver. Loved sister to Joltje & the late Wopke, and sister-in-law to Hannie & the late Willem. Predeceased by brothers & sisters and their spouses, Leffert & Rinkje, Bouke & Sjoerdje, toddler Joltje, Rein & Jo, Sam & Gwen, Hendrik, and Marie. Predeceased by Clarence’s sisters and spouses Wilda & Gerad, Liskje, Hammie & Anton, and Hillie. Loving aunt to her many nieces and nephews here and in the Netherlands.
Grace and Clarence were founding members of Hope Christian Reformed Church in Prince Albert, Ontario, where they both participated wherever they could until they no longer had the ability to attend. Mom loved nature and the garden and spent any spare moment there. She was a founding member of the Pine Ridge Garden Club where she was on the board for many years. She had also been on the board of Directors for both the Blackstock and Port Perry Fairs. Grace enjoyed entering her flowers and crafts at the Garden Club and fairs, which also included Uxbridge and Lindsay Fairs. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. Special thanks to Margaret, Pastor John, and Kerry, who took such great care of mom.
The family of Grace Bajema will receive friends at the WAGG FUNERAL HOME, 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905-985-2171) on Thursday, November 28th from 6 – 8 p.m. and at the Hope Christian Reformed Church, 14480 Old Simcoe Road in Prince Albert on Friday, November 29th from 10 – 11 a.m. A Service to celebrate her life will follow at 11 a.m. Interment Nestleton United Church Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations may be made to Hope Church, Save the Children, the Port Perry Hospital Foundation, or Oak Ridges Hospice.
