Daniela Maria Plastina (Keenan) Ballantyne

April 7, 1976 - November 29, 2024

BALLANTYNE, Daniela Maria Plastina (née KEENAN) of Port Perry, Ontario, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and friends on November 29th, after a long and difficult journey following her cancer reoccurrence earlier this year. Daniela was 48. She is survived by her husband Scott, her three beautiful children Alexandra, Daniel, and Olivia, her father Daniel Keenan, her stepmother Valerie Keenan, and her dearest siblings Gabriela and Michael along with their partners Martin Kepa and Yu (Tia) Tian.

Daniela was born on April 7, 1976, to Daniel and Denise Keenan. She lived throughout the Greater Toronto Area, spending her formative years in Aurora, Ontario, where she attended Cardinal Carter Catholic High School. Daniela went on to study Criminal Psychology at the University of Toronto. Upon graduation, she worked for several companies before achieving her dream job as an Intelligence Analyst with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, where she was deeply respected and loved by her colleagues.

Daniela met her husband Scott during her university studies, and they married on June 7, 2003, at Oakview Terrace after what she lovingly described as a rather “extended” courtship period. They initially lived in Newmarket for 10 years, where they welcomed their children, created cherished memories, and built lifelong friendships. In 2015, they moved to a quiet rural property between Port Perry and Uxbridge, where Daniela embraced rural living and built a loving home with Scott, raising their magnificent children.

Daniela had many loves, but her greatest joy was the quiet moments spent with her family—watching movies with her children or sitting peacefully on the back porch holding hands with Scott to the sound of birds. Her strength and determination were inspiring, especially during her seven-year battle with cancer. Even as the illness returned in late 2023, she showed unwavering courage and devotion to her family, surpassing every expectation with grace.

Daniela had a warm, beautiful smile, and an infectious laugh. She was beloved by all who met her and will be deeply missed. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Mount Sinai Hospital (Sinai Fund - Highest Priority Needs) in her memory would be greatly appreciated by the family. They also extend heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and doctors in the Emergency Unit, Intensive Care Unit, and 12th floor South Wing who supported Daniela during her final weeks.
