BURGHAM, Barbara Jean - passed away at Kingston General Hospital on Monday, July 2 at the age of ninety-five.
Born in Kingston in 1923, she was one of six daughters of Ronald and Helen Wallace (nee Bennett).
Predeceased by her husband, Allen, she leaves behind her last remaining sister, Isobel Gordon, her brother-in-law, Robert Burgham of Auckland, New Zealand, and her three sons, Ronald, Ian (Catherine West) and Mark (Mary Sean).
She is greatly missed by her five grandchildren including Olivia (Douglas Tanner), Emma (Alan McWilliam) and Julia (Richard Burgham Pearson), Clare, and Laura, all of whom loved her mightily.
She will also be missed by her great grandchildren, Edwin and Florence of Manchester, England and Sebastian and Louisa Jean of Ottawa and her nieces and nephews of many generations living in Canada, New Zealand, Australia and the UK.
Jean was a deeply spiritual woman and a member of the Kingston Gospel Chapel all her life.
She was proud of her family roots in both the UK and Kingston.
Though extremely proud of her wide family’s many accomplishments, she was mostly proud of how we loved each other and continue to demonstrate that love.
And it was her love and her amazing generosity towards everyone that we will continue to work to reflect though “we shall never know again that sweet condition that was ours together.”
A visitation is to be held at Robert J. Reid & Sons, Kingston on Friday, July 6 at 5PM till 7PM. Her funeral will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, July 7 at 11am.
In lieu of flowers she would like it if you would offer love and kindness to others – your friends and your enemies.
