POWELL, Barbara (Barb) Elaine   -  It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara (Barb) Elaine Powell on June 7, 2022, at the age of 91.

Born on December 22, 1930 in Toronto, Barb lived a peaceful and tranquil life, and was never too far away from friends or family.

Never one to ask for much, Barb lived contently reading, cooking, catching up with neighbours and watching for the wildlife that would frequent her backyard.

Barb was an avid curler and for years would regularly curl at the Guelph Country Club until a tragic car accident left her unable to play.

However, this injury did not dampen her love for the sport as she would enthusiastically watch the major curling tournaments throughout the year.

In her final year, Barb moved into an independent living facility where she made new friends and found comfort and joy in life's simple pleasures.

Barb is survived by her sister, Nancy Rodgers; her sons, Jamie (Anna), Geoffrey and Mark; her grandchildren, Adam Powell (Sonoka), Laura DeMarchi (Bryan), Colin Powell, Matthew Powell and Kenny Powell; and her great-grandchildren, Parker and Grant DeMarchi, and Reina Powell.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of nearly 50 years, Kenneth William Powell.

She will be missed immensely, and her love will remain in our hearts always.

There will be a service held at Smith's Funeral Home in Burlington, on Tuesday, June 14th, gathering at 9:30 a.m., service at 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Barb's name to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
