Doreen Barclay

Doreen Barclay (née Stewart)

March 1, 1930 – March 12, 2025

Passed away peacefully at Lee Manor on Wednesday, March 12, 2025. Born on Saturday, March 1, 1930, Betty “Doreen” Barclay of Owen Sound was in her 96th year.

Beloved wife and best friend of the late Glenn Barclay. Loving mother of William Barclay (Melanie) and the late Darlene Kieswetter (Gerry). Cherished grandmother of Emily Backer (Corey), Ashley Barclay (Yosel), Megan Sanita (Michael), Christina Kieswetter (Evan), and Joseph Kieswetter (Regan).

Proud great-grandmother of Brody and Blake Backer, as well as Antonio, Vittoria, Alessandro, and Ilaria Sanita. Doreen will also be missed by her many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Predeceased by her parents Ernest and Elsie Stewart and her siblings Ernest Stewart (Dorothy), Elsie Stewart (Calvin), William Stewart (Alice), Robert Stewart (Shirley), Donald Stewart, Eleanor McNabb (Elgin), Mary King, Alice Smith (Sherman), and David Stewart (Donna).

Doreen loved being on the water with her beloved Glenn, where they enjoyed fishing and running the charter boat Starchief together. She also loved spending her time knitting, crocheting, baking, and playing cards, but nothing compared to the love she had for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A special thank you to the nurses and staff of 121 South Lee Manor for their compassionate care given to Doreen.
