Leo Malcom Barkhouse

August 15, 1930 - October 23, 2024

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Leo Malcom Barkhouse. Leo passed away peacefully on October 23, 2024, in his 95th year at Woodhaven Long-Term Care Home, with family by his side. Predeceased by the love of his life, Ann, in 2021, Leo missed her deeply every day since her passing. They were married on November 3, 1951, sharing 70 joyful years together. We find comfort in knowing they are now reunited.

Leo will be dearly missed by his daughters Robin (Gavin), Leanne (Brad), and Rhonda (Gary). He leaves behind cherished memories and guidance for his grandchildren Erin, Jessica, Owen, Joel, Christopher, Brandon, Emily, and Evan, as well as his great-grandchildren Andie, Kamryn, Ryann, Wesley, Leo, Everleigh, Leo, Madeline, and Genevieve.

Born in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, to Percy and Genora (Clatenberg) Barkhouse, Leo was the youngest of four sons. Despite a challenging early life, he moved to Ontario for work, securing a position with Comstock, where he excelled in appliance repair, eventually starting his own successful business. Leo and Ann made a life together in Scarborough, living in their family home for over 65 years.

In retirement, Leo traveled, enjoyed cruises, and was a longstanding member of St. Andrew’s Church, where he contributed handmade woodworking items for church bazaars. He also worked for the Toronto Blue Jays for a decade, including their two World Series championship years. Leo was a gentle and playful man, loved by all who knew him, and a "Mr. Fix It" to everyone in need.
