Brian Rodney Baxter

November 30, 1967 – November 13, 2024

With heavy hearts, we remember the life of Brian Rodney Baxter, who departed this world on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at the age of 57. Born on November 30, 1967, in Sioux Lookout, Ontario, Brian was the beloved son of George and Myrtle Baxter (Mousseau).

Predeceased by his grandparents Magnus and Adoline Mousseau, John Christopher and Antoinette Baxter (Achneepineskum), his mother Myrtle Baxter, and his niece Georgette Baxter, Brian’s legacy continues through his siblings George “Bradley,” Edward, Marvin (Tara), Mathew (Hannah), Darrick, Jason, and Joan (Ernie), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Brian’s early years were spent immersed in nature along the Albany River, where he learned to fish, hunt, and trap alongside his grandparents. After moving to Thunder Bay for schooling, Brian graduated from Selkirk High School and pursued further education at Confederation College. He went on to build a successful career at North West Petroleum, Lakehead Burner, and later in pest control.

Brian cherished his role as a father to Cody, Kaijah, and Dakota Collins-Baxter and as a grandfather to Wesley and Zayden. He will be remembered for his kindness, resilience, and generosity, always putting others before himself and sharing his love through delicious meals and acts of service.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 29, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Blake Funeral Chapel, with a livestream available on the chapel’s Facebook page. A lunch to celebrate Brian’s life will follow at the Fort William First Nation (FWFN) Mountain Bingo Hall. All who knew and loved Brian are welcome to attend.

Brian’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched. He was a man of great heart and strength, and he will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
