April 21, 1924 – December 10, 2024

Elizabeth “Betty” Bearinger passed away peacefully with the loving support of her family on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Barnswallow Place Care Community, at the age of 100. Betty is now reunited with her beloved husband Eddie (2013).

Devoted mother of Colleen and Ron Wike, Beverly Gagliano, and Shannon and Dan Shillington. Adoring grandmother to Casey Wike; Pietro Gagliano, Luca Gagliano, John-Paul Gagliano, and Giuseppe and Cristina Gagliano; Leah Shillington and James Shillington; and great-grandmother to Sal and Eve Gagliano.

Betty was the last surviving member of the Smith family, having been predeceased by her parents Joseph and Sarah (Reesor) Smith, three brothers, and one sister in infancy.

Betty’s family was her greatest joy, and she created a warm and welcoming home filled with grace, efficiency, and abundant love. She was a dedicated member of Elmira Mennonite Church, leading a life of faith and service to others. Betty shared a name and birthday with the Queen and was an avid follower of the monarchy. An accomplished artist, she infused creativity into her paintings, quilts, and gardens. Her humble, gentle nature touched the lives of many, leaving behind a legacy of selflessness and love.

Visitation: A brief time of visitation will take place on Friday, December 20, 2024, at Elmira Mennonite Church, 58 Church St. W., from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
Funeral Service: A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m., with burial to take place in the adjoining cemetery. Refreshments and fellowship will follow the burial back at the church.
