David Michael Behan
Tuesday, February 11, 2025
Passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, with his family by his side at Lakeridge Health Oshawa. Dave fought a courageous battle with cancer and other health issues for many years. He was in his 69th year and leaves behind his cherished wife of 45 years and best friend, Jean.
Predeceased by his parents Violet and Aloysius Behan. Dear brother of Darlene Behan and Donna Carson. Loved brother-in-law of Linda Wilson (Nyle), Susan Maschke (Dann), Shirley Davis (Greg), and Jay Landry, and predeceased by Leonard, Laurie, and Ronald. Proud uncle and great-uncle to many cherished nieces and nephews. Dear friend and confidant of Reg Pigeau. Dave was a proud papa to his pets Jody, Bear, Rocky, Buddy, and Kiki. Lovingly remembered by his many extended family members and friends.
A proud retiree after 33 years of service to the City of Toronto as Head of Animal Control, Dave was a tremendous protector of animals in both his professional and personal life. He was also a proud member of AA and was preparing to receive his 10-year medallion.
Dave and Jean loved spending time at their home in Florida over the years. They enjoyed traveling and had plans to explore more in their retirement, but his health prevented those trips. They were overjoyed to move into their new home at Bloom Retirement, where they made new friends and participated in many activities. Family and friends were the most important treasures in Dave’s life.
Please join the family for a Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Armstrong Funeral Home (124 King Street East, Oshawa). Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Memorial donations to Team Chelsea Animal Rescue or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
Memories and notes of condolence may be shared at Armstrong Funeral Home.
