Wendy Sue Blackwell

1947 - 2024

It is with great sadness that the family of Wendy Sue Blackwell announces her passing on November 5, 2024, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Wendy is survived by her loving husband, David, and cherished children, Paul Chalmers (Julia) and Heather Chalmers (Umar). She was a devoted stepmother to Shannon Blackwell and Meagan Hollinshead (Shane).

Wendy, lovingly known as Nana, will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Evan (Emily), Noah, Anna (Jacob), Fiona, Savannah, Marten, and her great-grandchildren Micah, Abby, and Elizabeth. She was a dearly loved sister to Robert Culliton (Carolyn) of Fonthill and sister-in-law to Paul (Heather), Peter (Wendy), and Barb.

With 38 years of dedicated service as a nurse and nurse practitioner at Children’s Hospital London Health Science Centre, Wendy devoted her life to caring for children and their families. After her retirement, she continued to support these children through her volunteer work with the Service League. Wendy stayed active in her retirement through curling, golf, swimming, and spending treasured moments at the cottage with her family.

A Celebration of Wendy’s Life will be held at Highland Country Club on November 24 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at 1922 Highland Heights, London. In lieu of flowers, donations in Wendy’s memory can be made to Wellspring - London or Highland Community Curling Club.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Palliative Care Unit staff at London Health Science Centre for their professional and compassionate care. Condolences may be shared through Ontario Cremation Services.
