Francis "Fran" Bonwick
June 7, 1932 – March 2, 2025
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Francis "Fran" Mae Bonwick (née Mirrlees)
on Sunday, March 2, 2025. She was born on June 7, 1932, in Collingwood, Ontario,
to parents Frank and Ruby (Bailey) Mirrlees.
Fran married Jack Bonwick on November 15, 1952, and together they raised five children:
Sandra (Ken) Cooper, John (Patti) Bonwick, Brian (Wendy) Bonwick, Cindy Doyle,
and Hon. Paul P.C. (Sandi) Bonwick. She was a proud grandmother to 12 grandchildren
and a cherished great-grandmother to nine great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her sister Diane Giambra and predeceased by her sisters Pat Brough and Barb Wenzel.
Fran was an active member of the Rebekah Lodge, joining in March 1959.
She was Noble Grand of Manito Lodge #128 and District Deputy President of Collingwood District #26.
When Manito Lodge disbanded, she transferred to Glen Rebekah Lodge #209 in Elmvale,
where she served as chaplain.
Her career began in the payroll department at the Collingwood Shipyards.
After four years, she embraced the rewarding challenge of raising five children.
While managing her home, she attended night school to maintain her skills.
Once her youngest child was in school full-time, Fran resumed her career,
working at Goodall Rubber.
Fran had a love for reading, knitting sweaters and socks for her family,
and enjoyed a good round of golf and card games with friends.
