Walter William Booth
June 22, 1924 - November 10, 2024
Walter "Wally" Booth passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at the age of 100. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 78 years, Rosetta (nee Lewis); his children, Brian Booth and Jacqueline Booth (Nick); his granddaughters, Sarah-Jane Finlay and Heather Campbell, and his great-grandchild, Finley Valdstyn.
Born in London, England, Wally was a skilled Brass Instrument Maker at Boosey & Hawkes, where he transferred to Canada at age 28. Known for his exceptional craftsmanship, Wally made and repaired instruments for prominent organizations such as the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and The Salvation Army Bands. He enjoyed sharing his expertise, often visiting schools to teach students about instrument care. Wally retired after a distinguished 40-year career but continued his work well into his 80s.
In 1964, Wally and Rose built their home near Claremont, Ontario. There, he pursued hobbies such as organic gardening, homeopathy, photography, and traveling with Rosetta. Known for his extensive collection of tools, many handcrafted, Wally was always willing to help neighbors and friends with projects or lend a rare tool.
Wally's health remained robust until his mid-90s, after which he experienced a heart attack. He spent his last years at Woodhaven in Markham, where he received compassionate care from the dedicated staff on the Markham floor.
Cremation has been entrusted to Low & Low Funeral Home, Uxbridge. A celebration of Wally's life will be held at a later date. Friends may send condolences at www.lowandlow.ca.
