BOWERS, Ronald Irwin Bowers -
October 3, 1942 - July 8, 2024
Born on October 3, 1942, in Picton, Ontario, passed away unexpectedly on July 8, 2024 at Lakeridge Health Hospital in Oshawa.
He was a beloved father, partner, and friend, known for his adventurous spirit and love of life.
Ron spent his career as a heavy equipment operator at St Mary Cement, taking great pride in his work. He enjoyed fishing, ATV riding, stock car racing, and anything that went fast. At his cherished cottage on Effingham Lake, he was known for his generosity, often welcoming friends with a shot of Gibson whiskey or a cold Coors Light in his "bug-free zone" gazebo.
He shared 23 loving years with his partner, MaryJane, who he adored. Ron's life was enriched by the community at Effingham Lake, where he was well-loved and respected.
Ron is survived by his daughter Rose Lamb (Sandy Fodey) partner MaryJane, stepdaughter Susan, her husband Greg, and their children, Kelly and Catherine. His infectious laughter and zest for life will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of life will be held on July 19, 2024, from 12 noon until 3 pm at the Village of Taunton Mills, 3800 Brock Street North, Whitby, Ontario.
A special thank you to the Noella Black and her team at the Village of Taunton Mills for being there through this journey and for welcoming Maryjane.
Also a hug to Stan Stein who has been there for us and had numerous trips to the hospital to help with Dad’s care and support.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you celebrate Ron's memory by embracing life with joy and enthusiasm, just as he did and consider donating to the Wilfred Schlegel Hope fund a program that support front line care givers with financial support when they need it. (Something my dad always did in his life.
