SCHEINMAN, Bracha - 90, of Toronto, Ontario, passed away on December 30, 2020 at North York General Hospital.
Bracha was born in Antwerp, Belgium to Chaim and Manya.
Her parents fled Belgium and moved their family to southern France in advance of the German invasion.
They sent Bracha to a Red Cross home in northern France, but her parents and her younger sister, Sara Dina, perished at Auschwitz.
Bracha was smuggled into Switzerland, and remained there until the end of the war.
She then immigrated to Israel at the age of 15, lived and learned at an agriculture kibbutz and college, met her future husband, and started a family.
In the late 50's, the family moved to Toronto Canada.
Bracha is preceded in death by her husband Jack, and her son Chaim Henry.
She is survived by her son Ilan & Marie Sunshine, as well as Savta (Grandmother) to Corey (Laura), Spencer (Kate), Marlowe and Larkin.
Private funeral service will be held on January 1st with Rabbi Eva Goldfinger of Oraynu officiating.
