Lorraine Rose Marie Brady
June 6, 1939 – December 12, 2024
Lorraine Rose Marie Brady was born in Rouyn, Quebec on June 6, 1939, and passed away peacefully on December 12, 2024, with her family by her side, at the age of 85. She was the loving wife of the late Douglas Harvey Brady, who was born in Red Lake, Manitoba. Lorraine and Doug met when she was 14 years old, and their love story began when she asked him to pick her up from the convent, a moment Doug never forgot.
Lorraine was the daughter of the late Joseph Earnest Gagnon of Salem, Massachusetts, and Aurora Liard-Gagnon of Rouyn, Quebec, who defied expectations by marrying an American and later settling in Windsor, Ontario. Lorraine was a cherished sister to the late Yvette Catherman (Peter), Rita Osada (the late Joseph), the late Jackie Ozidak (Robert), the late Claude Gagnon (survived by Heather), the late Rina Gagnon, and Patrick Gagnon (Grace). She was a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews and a proud mother to Todd Douglas Harvey (Kathy) and Timothy Emerson (Karen). Lorraine was predeceased by her daughter Allison and is remembered as a loving grandmother to Jeramy Crissman (Chloe), and Louis and Sam Brady, as well as a great-grandmother to Izabella, Jemalyn, Axel, and Afreyja Crissman.
Lorraine graduated from Corpus Christi High School and the University of Western Ontario as a teacher. She began her teaching career in Northern Ontario on a reservation, where she faced her fear of water daily as schoolchildren picked her up in a canoe. Lorraine also worked for many years as a doctor’s office manager.
She was a supporter of the Rotary Club, a second mom to many exchange students, and an active volunteer, serving as Riverside Hockey Equipment Manager and a member of the Catholic Women’s League. She also helped establish the Early Years program at St. Rose Church.
Lorraine cherished time spent with her family, hosting Christmas parties, enjoying coffee with friends by the Windsor waterfront, and pursuing her love of crafts and quilting. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and kindness.
