John William Bridgewater

1950 - November 11, 2024

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of John William Bridgewater on Monday, November 11, 2024. John was predeceased by his parents, William and Louise (Harrigan) Bridgewater, and his Nana, Eva Harrigan, with whom he shared a birthday.

On October 21, 1977, John married the love of his life and best friend, Brenda (Lynch). Together, they built a beautiful life and family. John’s children, Troy and Heather Kelly, and Mandy Bridgewater and Shaun Cohoe, will forever miss his guidance, advice, and witty charm. Out of all his roles, “World’s Greatest Papa” was perhaps his favorite. His cherished grandchildren, Hayden Kelly, Shayna, and Ty John Bridgewater, and his beloved granddog, Marley, will deeply miss their loving Papa.

John lived a full and vibrant life. He played hockey in the Seals Hockey League for many years, enjoyed golfing, and was a skilled card player. He was proud of his career in the trucking industry as Terminal Manager of Inter City Truck Lines in Kitchener. A proud Legion supporter and member, he will be deeply missed by his sister, Brenda White, and brothers-in-law Ken Lynch and the late Gary Lynch, as well as many friends and family.

John’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Butt for his incredible care, as well as Brad Hipkin and Chris MacKay for their valiant efforts to keep their hero with them.

A celebration of John’s life will be held on Friday, November 29, 2024, from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at the Dunsdon Legion, Upper Hall, 9 Tollgate Rd., Brantford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dunsdon Legion Branch 461.

A tree will be planted in John’s memory in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.

They say a legend never dies—forever loved, never forgotten.
