Diane Elizabeth Bruce
February 27, 1955 – October 25, 2024

After a wonderful life shared with family and friends, filled with love, laughter, and happiness, we are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, nana, sister, aunt, and friend, Diane Bruce. Diane’s passing leaves a large void in our hearts, and she will be forever loved and missed by her husband, Andrew; her sons, Andrew (Nicole), Jamie (Cindy), and Matthew (Sarah); her grandchildren, Lila, Ava, and Emma; her brothers, Michael (Anne-Marie), James (Nancy), and Douglas (Allison); and her sisters, Tanis (Michael) and Jennifer (Peter).

Diane’s passion for teaching began as a camp counselor and continued through her career as a Physical Education teacher after completing her degrees at Queen’s University. She taught at various schools in Durham Region, finding a home at O'Neill Collegiate and later at McLaughlin CVI. Known for her boundless energy, kindness, and support, Diane was an inspiration to her students and colleagues alike. She cherished the opportunity to coach her sons in cross country and track and field.

Following retirement, Diane continued to enjoy a full life, balancing sports, social events, and time spent at Balsam Lake and in Florida. Hosting family and friends, she showcased her decorating and design talents with joy and pride.

A celebration of Diane’s life will take place at the Oshawa Funeral Home on Sunday, November 3rd, 2024. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by a service and reception at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations to The Ride to Conquer Cancer in support of Princess Margaret Cancer Centre would be greatly appreciated. To support her family’s dedication to the cause, please click the following links for donations:
