Stanley John Thomas Burrows

April 11, 1929 - February 17, 2025

In Loving Memory of Stanley John Thomas (Stan) Burrows, who passed away peacefully in Oshawa on February 17, 2025.

Born April 11, 1929, in Smethwick, UK, Stan left school at age 14.
After serving his country with pride and courage as a member of the British Army in Egypt, he returned to the UK,
where he met and married his beloved wife, Decima (Dec).
A loyal and devoted couple, they remained inseparable for the next 71 years.

A loving and dedicated father, Stan was both friend and counselor to Steve, Hilary, and Michael,
with whom he shared truly special relationships.
His wisdom, empathy, and encouragement will be deeply missed.

After emigrating to Canada, Stan held a number of prestigious positions in security companies before
becoming Supervisor of Security for Nestlé Canada, from which he retired at age 65.
His integrity, fairness, and courtesy earned him the respect and admiration of all who worked with him.
In retirement, he and Dec traveled the world, making many friends along the way.

A natural athlete, Stan won medals in snooker, boxing, darts, and soccer in his younger years.
As a child of the ‘have-a-go’ generation, he was skilled in everything from car repairs to home improvements.
After retiring, he explored hobbies like painting, drawing, and woodworking,
crafting treasured toys for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Stan is remembered for his kindness, generosity, and wonderful sense of humor,
which brightened every family gathering. He loved reminiscing about the past,
always smiling and nodding at the memories, punctuating them with his trademark phrase:
‘Ah, happy days!’

Everyone who met Stan was the better for it, and every place was enriched by his presence.
He leaves behind his wife Decima, children Steve (Resa), Hilary (Tom), and Mike (Diana),
grandchildren Graeme (Amanda) and Elizabeth (Warren), and great-grandchildren Mark, Andrew,
Matthew, Briar, Miles, Mackenzie, and Harrison, to wish him ‘all the best’ for his onward journey
and to reflect joyfully on a long, rich, and well-lived life.

God bless you, Stan the Man!
