Glenn Van Camp

1934 - December 19, 2024

With family by his side, on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at the Oak Ridges Hospice in Port Perry, Glenn Van Camp passed away peacefully at the age of 90.

Glenn was predeceased by his beloved wife, Donna (nee Dowson). Theirs was a love story of 68 years. He was the devoted son of Harry and Edna Van Camp of Blackstock and the cherished father to Bill (Norma), Robert (Cindy), and Paul (Kim). Glenn was adored by his grandchildren Mark (Sara), Joel (Rhea), Dean (Sarah), Marta (Tony), Katie (Craig), Alison (James), Emily (Joshua), Molly (Allan), Eric (Nicole), Alex (Lindsay), and Andrew, as well as his 16 great-grandchildren.

He also leaves behind his brother Art (Val) and nieces Janice, Jill, and Jayne, and nephew David. He was predeceased by his brother Wayne.

Glenn was the founder of Van Camp Contracting in 1956. His hard work, dedication, and integrity built the foundation for a third-generation business that continues to thrive. Civic-minded, Glenn gave back through various service clubs, charities, and board positions. Many of his contributions were anonymous, reflecting his humble nature. In retirement, Glenn pursued his passion for harness racing, finding joy and excitement with his beloved racehorses.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Bibby and the caring staff at Oak Ridges Hospice for their compassion during Glenn’s final days. Gratitude is also extended to the staff at Westshore, who provided exceptional care for both Glenn and Donna in their final years.

A celebration of Glenn’s life will be held following the winter season, with details to be announced at a later date. If desired, memorial donations may be made to The Port Perry Hospital Foundation or Oak Ridges Hospice.

Glenn will be laid to rest at Cartwright Union Cemetery, 3990 Edgerton Road, Blackstock, Ontario.

Memories, photos, and condolences may be left at Wagg Funeral Home.
