Wilma Van Camp

1935 - 2025

Devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Wilma (nee Toms) passed away peacefully on Monday, January 20, 2025, at the Lakeridge Health Centre in Bowmanville, in her 90th year. Wilma was the heart and soul of her family. Predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Keith (2021), together they raised five children: Cindy Werry (Dennis), Barry Van Camp (Steven Backs), Leanne O’Donnell (Jim), Debbie Van Camp, and Jay Van Camp (Kelly). She was a cherished grandma to John (Heather), Robert (Tracey), Ashley (Nate), Kaitlin (Peter), Amanda, Erika, Madison, and Haley, and was privileged enough to experience the lives of her 10 great-grandchildren: Paige, Tate, Leah, Anna, Curtis, Chase, Ty, Kenzie, Tilson, and Sadie. Family filled her life with love and meaning. Each member was her pride and joy, and nothing made her happier than to hear of their latest adventures and many accomplishments.

Wilma was predeceased by her parents Wilbur and Elva Toms, sisters Eileen McLaughlin (Harold) and Helen Dorrell (Stuart), and in-laws Merrill, Norma, and Jean Van Camp. She is survived by her sister-in-law Aileen Van Camp and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. A lifelong resident of Blackstock, home was Wilma’s favorite place to be. Wilma was able to remain in the comfort of her home thanks to the care and support extended by Steven and Barry throughout her declining years.

The family of Wilma Van Camp will receive friends at the Blackstock United Church, 3483 Church Street in Blackstock, on Friday, January 24, 2025, from 10 – 11 a.m. A service to celebrate Wilma’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Interment at Cartwright Union Cemetery, Blackstock.
