PRESTI, Carmelo – It is with deep sadness that we announce the unexpected but peaceful passing of Carmelo Presti at the Welland Hospital on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at the age of 91.
He is reunited with his loving wife, the late Venera Presti (December 23, 2014).
Dearly loved father of Rita D’Amico and her husband Paul and Patricia Presti. Devoted and much loved Nonno of his grandchildren Chelsea D’Amico and Alex D’Amico.
Sadly missed by his sister-in-law Agata Presti and his sister-in-law Maria DiBenedetto. Loving Uncle Carm to nephews Tony Celi (Rosanne), Carmelo Presti (Filomena) and Franco Presti (Melanie) and their families.
Predeceased by his parents Carmelo and Carmela Presti, brother Domenico Presti and his wife Clara, sister Paolina Torre and her husband Russell, brother Giuseppe Presti and sister Rosa Celi and her husband Rosario and brother-in-law Nello DiBenedetto.
Carmelo and his wife Venera owned and operated Presti Food Market on East Main Street for more than 25 years, working hard and making many friends.
He took great joy in being surrounded by his loving family, making homemade sausage and tending his garden. Carmelo will be deeply missed but always remembered.
The Presti family will receive friends at J.J. Patterson & Sons funeral home, Welland on Wednesday from 4-6 pm and 7-9 pm, vigil prayers will be offered at 8:30 pm.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Andrew The Apostle Church on Thursday, February 11th at 10:30 am. Rite of Committal to follow.
Donations in memory of Mr. Presti may be made to St. Andrews Church or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
