VAN VEEN, (Gabriel) Celestine (nee DE NOBREGA) - March 20, 1926 – May 31, 2022
Passed away peacefully, in her 96th year, on May 31, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.
Predeceased by her husband Wilton, daughters Paula and Denise, granddaughter Sonya, and brothers Victor, Nicholas and Peter.
Mother of Leonard Roy (Hilde), Ingrid (Bryan), and Donna Rebecca (Damien). Grandmother of Shauna, Shane, Phylicia (Alex), Leandra (Ruben) and Alexander.
Great-grandmother of Soliz.
Aunt and great-aunt to many nephews and nieces.
She is fondly remembered and will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
Celestine was born in Mahaica, British Guyana and immigrated to Canada to join her family in 1979. She was an active member of the St. Joseph, Highland Creek CWL.
Mom's greatest joys were spending time with family and friends. In particular, she enjoyed travelling with her children throughout Europe and the West Indies.
She also took great pleasure in solving word searches and solving Wheel of Fortune puzzles more quickly than her children could.
We would like to thank all of Celestine's and our families and friends for support given throughout her later years – Celestine would positively light up when ten or fifteen or more of us would get together for celebrations or just because.
Charitable donations in Celestine's memory may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society.
Arrangements with Highland Funeral Home at 3280 Sheppard Ave. E., Scarborough. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 6th, at 11 a.m., at St. Joseph's Highland Creek Church, 200 Morrish Rd., Scarborough.
