1933 - 2024

Claire Teresa Coakeley, née Renaud, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2024, at Chapel Heights Retirement Residence in Niagara Falls. Daughter of Joseph and Antoinette Renaud, Claire spent her childhood in Salem, Massachusetts, before joining the Sisters of Saint Anne in Montréal, where she trained as a teacher. After leaving the convent, she moved to Ottawa to teach with the Carleton and Carleton Roman Catholic Separate School Boards. It was in Ottawa that she met her beloved husband, Michael, with whom she later settled in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Claire was deeply devoted to her Catholic faith and was an active member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Niagara-on-the-Lake. She is predeceased by her husband Michael, her brother Paul (Nancy), and her niece Pat (Alan Bubb). She leaves behind her nephews Paul Renaud Jr. (Cheryl) and Bill Renaud (Sharon), her niece Susan Shaker (Roger), and many grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and great-grand nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by Michael’s sons Simon (Arnold), Damien (Greta), and Matthew (Susan) and their families.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church (73 Picton St, Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON) from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., immediately followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Cremation will follow.
