Roger Floyd Collins

March 28, 1939 - November 14, 2024

Roger Floyd Collins passed away peacefully into the arms of his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, November 14, 2024, at Peterborough Regional Health Centre. He was surrounded by his loving family and was 85 years old.

Roger was the beloved husband and soulmate of Susan Leona Collins (nee Wilkins) for 65 wonderful years. Loving father to Jeffrey David Collins (Eleanor) of Bancroft and Stephanie Jayne Collins of Peterborough. Cherished grandfather to Stephen Collins (Charlotte) of Peterborough, Amy Collins of Stirling, and Jackson Wright of Peterborough. Adoring "Poppa" to his great-grandchildren, William, Isabelle, Keliegh, and Kaiden.

Born on March 28, 1939, in Omemee, Ontario, Roger was predeceased by his parents Carl Joseph Collins and Jean Phyllis Swinson (nee Parsons). He will be dearly missed by his sister June Benesocky (Collins) of Edmonton, Alberta, and his half-siblings Wayne Swinson (Sharon), Lynda Yourshinsky (Walter – deceased), Douglas Swinson (Katrina), Bonnie Wood (Bob), Sherry McLean (Terry), and Debbie Swinson. Roger leaves behind countless friends, teammates, and his beloved bichon, Sailor.

Roger retired from General Motors Canada after 30 years of service. An exceptional athlete, he was inducted into the Lindsay District Sports Hall of Fame in 2003 for his achievements in hockey. Roger played defense for the Little Britain Intermediate "C" Hockey Club and later for the Ennismore Oldtimers. His passion for sports extended to curling and golf in his later years.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 18, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Mackey Funeral Home, 33 Peel Street, Lindsay, Ontario. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at 12:00 noon, followed by interment at Emily Cemetery, 4249 Hwy. 7, Omemee, Ontario. A reception will follow at Mackey Funeral Home.
