Patricia Frances Conlon
December 29, 1940 - December 25, 2024
Patricia Conlon died peacefully at Pickering Ajax Hospital on December 25, 2024, after a brief but fierce battle with cancer. Her indomitable will to live marked her final months, and she will be deeply mourned by family and a wide circle of friends.
Patricia was predeceased in 2022 by her loving husband Leo after 62 years of marriage, her mother Mary McKenna, her brothers Jackie, Jimmy, and Dennis, and her sister Bridget Anne. She is survived by her three children, Michael Conlon (Larissa), Donna Annett (Steve), and Teresa Ezquerra (Mauro Leonardo). She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Riley, Alexander, Devin, Emma, Aaron, and Anna. Patricia is further survived by her sister Mary Garvey and sister-in-law Colleen McKenna, along with a wide network of nieces and nephews in Canada and Ireland and many brothers- and sisters-in-law in both Canada and Ireland.
Patricia grew up in Toronto with five brothers and sisters, raised by her mother Mary in the family's (in)famous boarding house on Macpherson Ave. She developed a deep sense of resilience and resolve in those years but also a capacity for love and the vital importance of family. The boarding house on Macpherson was a magnet for the Irish community in Toronto, and many of the connections she made there lasted a lifetime.
Patricia was very active in the Irish dancing community and traveled the world (despite a lifelong fear of flying!) to support her daughters in competitive Irish dancing. She maintained a wide circle of friends and enjoyed connecting with them at Delta Bingo. A passionate lifelong Toronto Maple Leafs fan, Patricia was actually in attendance when the Leafs last won the Stanley Cup. Though she never got a return trip, her love for the team never wavered.
Patsy, as she was known to her friends, lived a rich and varied life. Though her passing leaves a deep void, her legacy lives on in every act of kindness, empathy, and love carried forward by those who knew and loved her. Her family extends their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Yuh of the Scarborough Healthcare Centre for his compassionate and expert care throughout Patricia’s life. His dedication sets a standard of care to which all physicians should aspire.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Lakeridge Health Foundation - Our Cancer Campaign.
