Roy James Cordell

March 14, 1948 - September 20, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Roy James Cordell, surrounded by his family on Friday, September 20, 2024, at Brightshores Health System, Markdale. A resident of Eugenia, Ontario, Roy passed in his 77th year. Beloved husband of 51 years to Gay (née Thomson), loving father of Richard (Samantha) of Sydney, Australia, and Jackie (Josh) Davies of Markdale. Roy was a proud and devoted grandfather to Jackson, Lincoln, and Madison Cordell, and Jacob and Joseph Davies. He will be dearly missed by his brothers, Donald (the late Dina) of Peterborough and John (Karol) of Grand Valley, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Roy was born on March 14, 1948, to Leonard and Thelma in Toronto, Ontario. Raised in Downsview, he was among the first graduates of Seneca College with a diploma in Sales and Marketing. A fateful blind date led to his marriage to Gay in 1973. Roy enjoyed a fulfilling career with Kodak Canada, Diversey Chemical, and SC Johnson Wax, retiring in 2013. He cherished time spent travelling with Gay across North America in their motorhome, exploring many continents on cruises, and frequently visiting family in Australia. Roy found joy in cheering on the Toronto Blue Jays, fishing, and spending cherished days at the family cottage on Go Home Lake, but his greatest joy was watching his grandchildren grow.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Roy's life at Fawcett Funeral Cremation Reception, Flesherton, on Wednesday, September 25, from 1:00 - 3:00 pm, with memories shared at 2:00 pm. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Chapman House, Residential Hospice Grey Bruce, are greatly appreciated.
