Terry Andrew Devitt

January 6, 1948 - April 12, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Terry Andrew Devitt of Bowmanville, Ontario, on April 12, 2025, at the age of 77.

Terry was the beloved husband of Judith Dianne Devitt (née Fice), and a devoted father to Gregory Devitt (Sandra) and Shelley Agnew (Jon). He was a proud and loving Poppa to Maggie, Nolan, Emily, and Madelyn. Terry was the cherished son of the late Carl and Jean Devitt, and brother of Larry (Susan) and the late Wayne (Patti). He will be fondly remembered as a brother-in-law to Dennis and Linda Brown, and as a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Terry began his lifelong career in retail management at Stedmans in Bowmanville. He later worked at Sears in Oshawa starting in 1969, followed by Eaton’s, and eventually retired from the Hudson’s Bay Company. He loved working in retail and valued the connections he made throughout his career.

A man of deep Christian faith, Terry was a devout follower of Jesus and a committed member of Pine Ridge Bible Chapel, where he served faithfully as both a deacon and elder. His passion was helping others, and he lived a life marked by kindness, humility, and quiet service.

A memorial visitation will take place at Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home in Bowmanville on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A memorial service will follow on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, with visitation at 1:00 p.m. and the service at 2:00 p.m., also at Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Family Bible Hour (fbhinternational.com) or Hope Valley Day Camp (hopevalley.ca), two ministries close to Terry’s heart.
