RICHARDSON, Diane Jean - (April 27, 1940 - January 11, 2017) - Sadly, the family announces the passing of Diane, after a six-month battle with a brain tumour.
Diane will be sorely missed by her husband of 55 years John, daughter Susan Layfield (Brian) Oakville, James Richardson (Maria) Burlington, and Beth Richardson (Scott Johnston) Whitby. Loving Grandma to Isabelle and Bremner Layfield, Zach, Nathan and Linda Richardson.
She also will be missed by her brother Gary Carter (Terry) of Calgary.
After graduating from Leaside High, Diane worked for Manulife for a short period of time before taking up her full-time job of wife and MOM. John and Diane spent many happy years in London, ON before returning to live in the country in Caledon and latterly Oakville.
Together they travelled to many parts of the world but were happiest at home close to family. The winter months were spent in Naples Florida. Diane loved to play croquet and was a member of the Caledon Croquet Club and the Audubon Croquet Association (Naples).
Diane has said many times her proudest achievement was raising three fine children and seeing them in turn, happily married.
At Diane’s request, she was cremated and a private funeral will be held with interment to follow in the spring. Arrangements entrusted with Glen Oaks funeral home, Oakville, through which donations in her name can be made to Covenant House or the Scott Mission.
