Mary Ann Donahoe (née Durfy)

June 22, 1946 - February 11, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Ann Donahoe, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She passed away on February 11, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, care, and generosity.

Mary Ann was the devoted wife of 56 years to John Francis Donahoe. She was a proud mother and mother-in-law to Julie & Jordy, Jason & Marcie, and Bob & Michelle. She was also a loving and cherished grandmother to Jake and Rachel Donahoe.

Throughout her life, Mary Ann dedicated herself to caring for others. As a registered nurse, she spent decades assisting expectant mothers in delivering their babies at Ajax-Pickering Hospital, keeping the public safe through her work with the Durham Regional Health Department, and offering compassion and support as a valued home care nurse. Even in retirement, her passion for helping others continued as she spent time caring for her family, doting on her grandchildren, and volunteering at the Newcastle Food Bank.

Mary Ann was well known for her love of entertaining and being social. She found great joy in the company of her wonderful friends, colleagues, neighbors, and family members, all of whom shared in years of laughter, joy, and compassion with her.
