THOMSON, Dorothy Thomson - Daughter of the late David and Clara Thomson of Manitoulin Island, passed away peacefully, January 2, 2024, at the age of 85.
Dorothy was loved dearly and will be greatly missed by her godchildren and their families, her beloved cousins and extended family, her church community, her nursing colleagues, her friends and classmates and their children.
She will be especially missed by the Schumacher family.
A graduate of Women's College Hospital in Toronto, Dorothy worked many years in Public Health in Toronto, Norfolk County and Sudbury.
She was dedicated to assisting vulnerable street youth, suicide-bereaved families, and those suffering with addiction, and mental health issues.
Dorothy was an active member of the community: a member of The Sudbury Action for Youth (SACY), The Outreach Centre, The Downtown Churches Group, The Women's Bible Study Group, and a leader of The Suicide Support Group.
Dorothy was a longtime member of the Church of Epiphany of Sudbury. A funeral is being held at The Church of the Epiphany in Sudbury, on January 20, 2024 at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations to either The Church of the Epiphany or The Sudbury Action for Youth would be appreciated .
