Allen Glenn Drown

Surrounded by his loving family, Allen Glenn Drown, age 81, of Stratford, peacefully left this world to be with his Lord and Saviour on November 17, 2024. Allen was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, whose life was filled with love, faith, and service to others.
Born in Stratford in 1943 to the late Harvey and Irene (Lease) Drown, Allen married his best friend and the love of his life, Barbara (Comley), on November 10, 1962. Together, they shared 62 wonderful years of marriage. He was a loving father to Donald (Michelle), Mark, and Mary, and a cherished grandfather to Kody (Amanda), Tyler (Carlie), Brandon (Jordan), Jennifer, Sean, Crystal (Jesse), and Katelyn (Marcel). Allen was a proud great-grandfather to Aliyah and Olivia.
Allen is survived by his sister-in-law Joan Taylor-Eaton, brother-in-law Albert Comley (Sue), and Mary-Lou Drown. He will be fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Predeceased by his brother Larry, father-in-law and mother-in-law Bert and Lena Comley, brothers-in-law Donald Comley, Alvin Taylor, Glen Eaton, and son-in-law Brian Mielke, Allen now rests in eternal peace.
Allen was a dedicated member of Memorial Baptist Church, which he helped to build and maintain. A lifelong volunteer, he touched countless lives through his generosity and willingness to help others. Allen was an active coach for hockey and ringette in Stratford for many years and enjoyed spending time watching his grandchildren participate in sports, camping, and traveling with his family. He retired from FAG (Schaeffler) Bearings in 2008 after a fulfilling career.
Visitation will be held at W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford, on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will take place at Memorial Baptist Church, 113 Bruce Street, Stratford, on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., followed by interment at Avondale Cemetery.
The family extends their gratitude to Dr. House and the Kidney Transplant Unit at LHSC and the staff of the Stratford General Hospital Dialysis Unit for their care and compassion.
Allen will be remembered as a man of faith, dedication, and love, who left a lasting legacy in the lives of all who knew him.
