HEROLD, Joseph Herold

HEROLD, Joseph Herold  -  With heavy hearts the family of Joseph John Herold announces that he lost the fight to recover from his latest surgery at Peterborough Regional Hospital on April 12, 2024.

He is predeceased by his parents Joseph and Barbara Herold (nee Weber); his five older siblings; and granddaughter Teegan.

Joe is survived by his loving and patient wife of 63 years, Linda (nee Sanders); and sons Mark (Jeannie), Tony (Donna) and J.P. (Gill). He was the loving Poppa to grandchildren Alex, Paul, Steven, Brooke, Niko, Patrick, and Melissa and will be fondly remembered by his great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Joe was born on December 21, 1942, in Toronto, Ontario.

He and Linda raised their boys in Stouffville, Uxbridge and Leaskdale before settling on the island in Port Perry as empty nesters.

They later moved to Bobcaygeon where they found comfort in the quiet community and formed many friendships.

Following Joe’s retirement from Ontario Hydro, he and Linda sought refuge from the cold winters by becoming snowbirds at their second home in Florida where they stayed for about 12 years. In his free time Joe loved to play golf, he was a talented craftsman and made some of the best dill pickles.

He will always be remembered for his meticulously kept hair, perfectly groomed moustache, the smell of his cherry pipe tobacco and his big-hearted grumpy love.

A celebration of Joe’s life will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in memory of Joe to the Uxbridge Scugog Animal Shelter, Sleeping Children Around the World or Africycle.

God Saw You Getting Tired God saw you getting tired And a cure was not to be So He put His arms around you And whispered ‘Come with Me.’ With tearful eyes We watched you suffer And saw you fade away Although we loved you dearly We could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating Hard working hands at rest God broke our hearts to prove He only takes the best.

It’s lonesome here without you We miss you more each day Life doesn’t seem the same Since you’ve gone away.

After Rosina passed away, dad got together with a kind lady from the area, Margaret Sonley.

Marg was his lifeline during the last bunch of years and the family acknowledges how kind a person she was to our dad. Looking after him until the very end.

Dad always said if it wasn’t for bad luck, he wouldn’t have any luck at all.

Well, having Marg as his partner in the end was the greatest stroke of luck he could ever have had. Dad will be missed.

Also, thanks to all who visited dad in his final months, you made a difference in his life.

HARRISON, Anne P. Harrison

HARRISON, Anne P. (nee deFOUBERT)   -  On Thursday, April 11, 2024, in her 91st year, Anne passed peacefully from this world surrounded by much love.

As a beloved mother, she will be missed terribly by her children, Stuart (Jacquie), Barbara (Wayne), and Colleen; and by her ever-loving grandchildren, Ethan, Liam, Keegan, Mei Lan, Callum, and Ming Li.

Missed dearly by her brothers, John (Joyce) and Nigel; as well as by her nieces and nephews.

In 1960, Anne's adventurous spirit led her to leave home in Cork, Ireland, and venture to Canada with Clem, the love of her life.

Always close to their hearts, Ireland remains a second home to their three children.

After raising their children, Anne became an Executive Secretary at Zynomatic, Pilkington Glass, and later Nestle, Toronto.

Retirement brought them to Castleton, and then Anne to Newcastle after Clem's passing in 2011.

Anne flourished in community activities including various horticultural societies and volunteering as a longstanding member of the United Church Women of Canada, assisting to resettle Syrian refugees, and participating in Soup Sisters.

She touched so many lives with kindness and genuine interest in others.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Salvation Army. Aquamation has taken place.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled at Newcastle United Church, 84 Mill St. S., Newcastle, ON, at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, June 22nd.
