WELLS, Walter B. (WISNIEWSKI)   - 

March 12, 1930 - April 14, 2024

Born in Minitonas, Manitoba. He proudly served with the Metropolitan Toronto Police force from 1958 to 1983.

With saddened hearts, Walter Bruce Wells of Ajax, ON, passed away peacefully, with his son, Gary Wells, at his side on April 14, 2024.

He will be missed by his two sons, Gary and Bruce Wells; Gary's wife, Sandy Wells, grandchildren: Lindsay Brennan (Mathew), Laura Wells (Darryn); and Bruce's wife, Alayne Wells, grandchildren: Megan Wells (Ty) and Aaron Wells (Emily). And his longtime companion, Ann Tyas.

As per our father's wishes, there will be no service.

Thank you to Chartwell Ajax for taking such good and compassionate care of Walter. Rest in peace Dad. Love your fam.

HICKEY, Caiden Michael  -  Suddenly and unexpectedly passed away on Sunday April 14, 2024 in Oshawa in his 20th year.

Cherished son of Roberta Gervais (Kyle Slaney) and Ryan Hickey.

Much loved brother of Damien Gervais (Kennedy Rupert), Phoenix Gervais & Maicha Gervais.

Adored uncle of Dallas Rupert.

Beloved grandson of Douglas and Sandra Hickey

Caiden will be sadly missed by all of his family and friends.

Caiden loved the outdoors and enjoyed biking, swimming and climbing trees. Any of Caiden’s friends with a truck will know he loved and always requested a burnout as they left.

Family was everything to him and Caiden never left the house without telling everyone he loved them. He was so full of life and always made sure everyone was smiling and laughing.

Caiden was always thrilled for new adventures and making the best out of it.

Anyone who knows him knows how spontaneous he was and wouldn’t hesitate when it comes to having fun and making memories. He will always be remembered for his humor, contagious laugh and enormous heart

A Celebration of Caiden’s Life will be held at a later date, when the family are able to gather together with friends.

Cremation has taken place.

WILKINS, Dale Albert  -  

February 18th, 1959 - Sunday, April 14th, 2024

It is with great sadness that the family of Dale Wilkins announce his passing.

He passed away quietly in his home on Sunday, April 14, 2024.

Dale is survived by his sons Philip, Preston and Spencer, daughter-in-law, Eden, grandchildren, Vivian, Scarlett, and Jack, ex partner Lesley, his mother Luella Bigelli, and cousin Joe Bigelli.

He will be forever in the hearts of his siblings, sisters, Donna, Dianne and Darla and is brother Kacey.

Predeceased by his father Harold Wilkins and brother Kirby.

Dale was born in Kitchener, Ontario and had a career in insurance spanning 30 years.

He loved his children and wanted the best for them.

May he rest in eternal peace.

His memories will live forever in those who loved him.

A funeral service will be held at  W.C. TOWN FUNERAL CHAPEL (110 Dundas Street East, Whitby) on Friday, April 26, 2024 at 1:30pm with visitation beginning one hour prior.

JANUARY 6, 1937 – APRIL 14 , 2024

(Retired long-time employee of General Motors – Oshawa Car Assembly).   Passed away on April 14, 2024, after a short battle with cancer, at the age of 87.

Beloved husband of the late Elaine and devoted, loving father of Dean (Mitch), Danny (Betty), Darryl (Valerie) and Darrin (Julie).

Cherished grandfather of Jason (Dawn), Amanda (Andrew), Jessica (Terry), Cam (Sara), Jeff, Kaleb and Keira.

Great grandfather of Serenity, Linkin, Jhett and Leland. Loving Brother In Law of the late Dolores, Sylvia and Ruth.

Ron will be fondly remembered by his extended family and his many friends. A heartfelt special thank-you for the extraordinary compassion and care provided by the exceptional staff at Hillsdale Terraces (Sugar Trail Wing).

MAGGS, Roger James Maggs -

November 18, 1930 - Apri 14, 2024

With sadness, we announce the passing of our dear father and grandfather, Roger, at Lakeridge Health Oshawa.

The son of Constance and Percy Maggs, Roger was born in Wetaskiwin, Alberta.

He leaves behind his brother Stanley, children Jocelyn, Greg and Valerie, and grandchildren Madeline, Elizabeth, Leslie, Elliott, Natalie and Connor.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife Joan, his son Barry and his grandson Alexander.

Roger was an Anglican minister, ordained in 1956.

He served in several parishes in Edmonton, then in Langley and Port Coquitlam BC. In 1972 he came to Ontario to further his education in pastoral counselling, studying at the former Queen St Mental Health Centre for 2 years.

He then took a position at the Oshawa General Hospital as their first ever full time chaplain. Eventually, he returned to parish life as the minister of St. Matthews in Oshawa and after retirement he was the Honorary Assistant at St. John’s in Whitby. Roger was a born athlete and singer.

He played almost every sport he could in high school and university. He started singing from a young age in church choirs. Before going to divinity school at Emmanuel College in Saskatoon, he studied engineering at the U of A in Edmonton.

A lifelong golfer,he continued to golf until his mid eighties when his vision was affected by a stroke. This was a passion he passed down to his sons and grandsons.

His lovely tenor voice was a great asset to his ministry and he continued to sing in the St John’s choir until Covid ‘s arrival. His was an active and busy life.

In their retirement Joan and Roger travelled extensively; several times leading tour groups to the Passion Play at Oberammergau.

They were very active in church life and they were part of the 420 Golden Wing at the Oshawa Airport where Dad told “clean” jokes and led singsongs. For many years he ran their annual golf tournament. He also served as the secretary of the pastoral education association and sang in several choirs including the one at St Johns.

Mom and Dad were able to remain in their own home into their 90’s but after mom’s passing, Dad moved to the Village of Taunton Mills where he spent his last years in reasonably good health, until the past few months. We thank the staff there for their care.

Funeral and interment of ashes to be held at St John’s Whitby in late June, date and time to be confirmed.

GARRARD, Warren Bruce Garrard  -  Peacefully at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Sunday, April 14, 2024, in his 99th year.

Beloved son of the late Russel Garrard and Pearl Harper.

Devoted brother of Barbara and the late Wilma and Phyllis.

Dear uncle to Gail and her sons Alex, Eric and Mike, and Scott (deceased) and his children, Andrew and Rachel.

Great Great-Uncle to five.

Bruce spent his life first serving his country in the R.C.A.F. during WW2 as a trained navigator stationed in Alberta and as a career accountant in the position of Comptroller with Fiberglas Canada in Toronto, ON for over 35 years. A confirmed bachelor all his life, Bruce enjoyed golfing, skiing, hunting and fishing.

He was a staunch member of Kingsview United Church for many decades.

Bruce lived his entire life in Oshawa devoted to the care and well-being of his family and friends.

In turn, we give great thanks to his caregiver of many years, Angela. May he rest in peace.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend at McINTOSH-ANDERSON-KELLAM FUNERAL HOME LTD., 152 King St. E., Oshawa (905-433-5558) on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 from 12 p.m., until the time of the service in the funeral home chapel at 1:00 p.m.

COOPER, Rose Cooper -

January 20, 1965 - April 14, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rose Marie Cooper, who left us far too soon on Sunday, April 14, 2024.

Rose departed this life in the hospital, surrounded by her loving children, who were by her side until the end.

Rose was the devoted Mother to Chris (Sam) and Nicole (Matt). She embraced the cherished title of Amma to her adored grandchildren Shelby, Aria, Kinsley and Kohen who brought immense joy and light into her life.

She will also be sorely missed by sisters Beverly (Larry) and Nancy, brothers John and Rob (Lisa) and former husband Steve. Rose is predeceased by her parents Gerald and Eleanor.

Throughout her time with us, Rose Marie touched the hearts of many with her warmth, and unwavering love. Her presence brought comfort to those around her.

Her sense of humor and lighthearted approach to life, will continue to live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind. Rose was deeply committed to caring for her family and she found joy in the simple pleasures of life. May her memory be a blessing to us all. Rest in peace, dear Rose Marie. You will be dearly missed, but never forgotten.

A Celebration of Rose’s Life will take place at the Low and Low Funeral Home, Port Perry, on Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 12p.m. until 3p.m with a time of sharing at 1p.m.

MCALISTER, Carol Elizabeth Ann (nee Sutherland)  -  On the evening of Sunday, April 14, 2024, Carol Elizabeth Ann, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, with her much loved cat Rosie close by her side.

While there were many defining characteristics that made Carol the woman who was loved and cared for by many, the thing that she was the proudest to share with anyone she met was how honoured she was to be called mom by Ted (Becky) and Ben (Emilie) and grandma to Alex and Rhys.

Carol was the happiest and most content when she was surrounded by her family and close friends.

Carol was diagnosed with cancer 3 different times in her life. Each time, she fought the disease with everything that she had, no matter the prognosis.

Being a cancer survivor became not only a badge of honour for Carol but also a reminder that life was precious and shouldn’t be wasted. After her first battle, she joined a dragon boating team that was comprised entirely of breast cancer survivors, she (several times) completed the 60-km Weekend to End Breast Cancer walk, she met new people, she went on dates and eventually found love again, in her late husband, Bill Boncheff.

The two were happily married for almost 10 years before his sudden passing in 2019.

Born in Kitchener/Waterloo on July 18, 1948, Carol was adopted by John and Pat Sutherland. While she never met her birth parents, she always wondered who they were.

A closed adoption file made this exceptionally challenging, but through the magic of genealogy she was able to connect with her maternal Aunt Barb and siblings, Roger, Doug, Debra, Ken, and Bev. While she had grown up in a house with a brother, Fred, she always felt like there was a piece of her missing. Connecting with her biological family, helped her find a kind of happiness and connection that she’d never before experienced.

While she might not have had them in her life for a long time, she treasured every moment, every text, every conversation shared with each of them. Carol was a caring, compassionate woman who loved to laugh with friends and family. The connections that she made throughout her life carried her through every chapter of her story.

Whether they were friends she made in childhood, friends she made in her middle chapters or friends she met closer to the end, they were all just as important to her. No matter how long it had been since she had last seen someone, she was always ready with a welcoming smile, a warm hug, and a genuine concern for how they were doing.

The strength of these connections was clearly evidenced to her family by the number of phone calls, texts, cards and visits she received over the last few weeks.

Each one meant so much to her – thank-you for making her heart happy and her days a little bit brighter. The memories and stories we all have of Carol will live in our hearts and our memories forever and we are all better for having known her.

Her wishes were to not have a funeral, but yet a celebration of life where she was truly celebrated with margaritas and ice cream. Details of this will be shared with her family and friends in the coming days.

LEE, Karen Chong Cha Lee   - 

June 16, 1949 - April 14, 2024

eacefully passed away on April 14th, 2023 at Mariposa House Hospice.

Throughout her long hard fought battle with cancer, it could not crush the spirit that saw her immigrate to Toronto in the early 80's and joyfully settle in Beaverton for the past 38 years.

Karen loved seeing the neighbourhood children grow while serving them various sundries at our small store called The Hodge Podge.

She is survived by her loving husband, Ken, and son Bryan.

Funeral service will be held at the Mangan Funeral Home on Friday April 19, 2024 at 11 A.M. (the service will be held in Korean) A visitation will be held following the service from 12-1 P.M.

If so desired, memorial donations to Mariposa House Hospice would be appreciated by the family.
