PIGDEN, Edward 'Ted' Arthur - Former elementary school teacher and principal, longtime member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, passed away at Hospice Simcoe in Barrie in his 86 year on Sunday, April 16, 2017.
Ted was an avid fisherman and golfer, and excelled as a third baseman in his younger days. Ted was born in Tweed, Ontario and was raised on the family dairy farm in Madoc, Ontario. After attending normal school he started his teaching career in a one room schoolhouse outside of Norwood, Ontario.
Relocating to Barrie in 1957 with Lois Winnifred Pigden, he had a lengthy career as a teacher and principal at CFB Borden, retiring in 1989.
Ted was the beloved husband of the late Lois Winnifred Pigden.
Dear father of Martin Arthur Pigden (Nancy) and Kathryn Irene Hodgson (Lauren).
Loving grandfather of Kristen, Stacy, Thomas, Kate (Joel), Sarah, Michael and Joel.
Dear brother of the late Allen Pigden (Doris), the late Joyce Nesbitt (the late Ken), the late Lois Maloney (Paul) and the late Edna Thompson (the late Wilfred).
Ted is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Jennett Funeral & Cremation Centre, Barrie on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 170 Steel Street, Barrie on Friday, April 21st, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. Cremation has taken place.
