STUBBS, Elizabeth Louise - May 11, 1923 - March 11, 2017
Our beloved mother passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 11, 2017 in her 94th year.
She will be truly missed by all who loved her.
Predeceased by her husband, Gerald Stubbs, after 52 years of marriage and by her sister, Velma Orok, she is survived by her children, Dr. Robert Stubbs, Dr. Barbara Stubbs and Dr. Donald Stubbs and their spouses, Dr. Kirk Lyon and Dr. Janice McMinn.
She leaves 10 grandchildren, Jennifer Guy (Steven), John Stubbs (Lindsay), Greg and Alex Lyon, Sarah and Laura Stubbs, David and Emma McMinn-Stubbs, and James and Andrew Stubbs and 4 great- grandchildren, Danielle and Joshua Guy; Audrey and Alex Stubbs.
Also missing her are Francie Maroosis, Jackie Bennett and Debbie Brophy. Elizabeth was born in Barrie, Ontario and grew up in Toronto, graduating from Oakwood Collegiate Institute and the Toronto Normal Teaching School. She was an Elementary Teacher at Essex Public School and Dovercourt Public School, then for over 20 years she was a popular Study Hall Supervisor at Oakwood Collegiate Institute. Her students there fondly remember her as "the mother of the school".
An active member of the United Church, Elizabeth spent her retirement years engaged in lifelong learning courses at the University of Toronto. Our mother's greatest joy was spending time with her family and looking for ways to continually support, nurture and enrich our lives.
Friends may call at the Morley Bedford Funeral Home, 159 Eglinton Ave. W., on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at 1 p.m., with a service in the chapel at 2 p.m. Cremation. A private committal will be held at a later date.
Flowers and charitable donations are gratefully declined.
