Esperance (nee D'Lima) Fernandes

October 1, 1937 - November 29, 2024

Esperance Fernandes, lovingly known as Espie, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 29, 2024, at Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga, Ontario, at the age of 87, surrounded by her family.

Espie is survived by her children Sandra and Cedric, daughter-in-law Carlotta, granddaughter Sophia, sister Lily Aranjo, and brother-in-law Andrew Dias. She is predeceased by her beloved husband Augustine (Augie), parents Vincent and Agnes, brother Matthew, and sisters Lucy D'Souza and Cecilia Dias.

A cherished primary school teacher, Espie devoted her early life to education and later transitioned into the private sector. She lived a life rich in family, travel, and faith. Espie retired to Canada in 2001 and enjoyed her golden years surrounded by a warm community of friends and loved ones.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, from 4–8 p.m. at Turner & Porter Funeral Home, 1981 Dundas St W, Mississauga. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, 6890 Glen Erin Dr, Mississauga, on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at 11 a.m., followed by a reception at Swagat Banquet Hall, 6991 Millcreek Dr, Mississauga.
