Gabriele Margarete Fettes (nee Relitzki) passed away peacefully in Ajax, Ontario on March 25th, 2025.
Loving wife to Donald Alexander for 33 wonderful years before his passing in 2004. Beloved mother of Michael (Roberto) and Brian (Rob).
Beloved daughter of Kurt and Hildegard Relitzki. Beloved sister of Olaf (Elizabeth) and Elke Relitzki and Aunt to Vanessa and Tanya. Beloved sister-in-law to James and Kay Fettes, Robert and Muriel (late) Fettes, and David (late) and Sandy Fettes.
Gabriele will also be greatly missed by her extended family and her dear friends.
She trained as a hairdresser for her years in Germany before coming to Canada and starting a new life. She was spirited, enjoyed many fun events and parties, and loved to make everyone happy. Her love of her career as a hairdresser and later as an office administrator was second only to her love of her children and extended family. Throughout her life, Gabriele was always up for a challenge. Later in life, she faced her battle with cancer head on, going through scary treatments, but, thankfully, came through. She was always thankful for every little blessing, big or small. Always one for a mischievous joke, Gabriele was a grand and gracious host. Her family dinners were known for delicious food and epic evenings of fun and family. Always a fan of travel and adventure, she could be found in any tropical location lounging in the sun, sipping an ice-cold drink, or joining in the fun and adventure of Las Vegas with her mom, sister, and also brother and sister-in-law. She loved so many of her friends from her workplace and could always be counted on for a good story about her time there. She was a wonderful mother, and mother-in-law, and always loved having “her boys” around.
A visitation memorial will be held on Saturday, April 26th from 2:00-5:00 pm at McEachnie’s Family Centre. A celebration of life will be held by the family at a date to be announced. A private family interment will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to PRINCESS MARGARET HOSPITAL, CANADIAN CANCER SOCIETY, or LAKERIDGE HEALTH AJAX HOSPITAL in Gabriele’s memory will be appreciated by the family.
