Major Garland Garry Allan Foote

November 12, 1942 - October 31, 2024

With deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will, we announce the Promotion to Glory of our beloved Garland, who was called home on October 31, 2024, at the age of 82. Garland departed peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, and is now in the presence of his Lord and the family who went before him.

Born on November 12, 1942, in Burin Bay, Newfoundland, Garland lived a life dedicated to the Lord, spreading kindness, and bringing joy to all who knew him. He was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished papa, and faithful servant of God. His love for the Lord was evident in all he did, and he touched countless lives with his selfless love and unwavering faith.

Garland will be remembered for his warm hugs, jovial laugh, and for always making others feel at home. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Anne (Head) Foote; his children, Elizabeth and Michael (Ligia) Foote; and his granddaughter, Xania Pagliaroli. Garland also leaves behind his brothers, Malrey (Betty) and Alvin (Yvonne), his sister Donna (Bruce), and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Samuel Earl and Rose (Isaacs) Foote, and his brothers, Raymond, Les, Glenwood, and Bramwell.

A Celebration of Garland’s life will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Salvation Army Oshawa Temple. Friends and family are invited to join in honoring his memory and offering prayers for his eternal rest. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at McEachnie Funeral Home, and on Thursday, November 7, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Salvation Army Church.

In place of flowers, the family requests donations to the Salvation Army Oshawa Temple or the Canadian Cancer Society in Garland’s honor, continuing his legacy of faith and service.

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” — Proverbs 3:5-6

May Garland rest in eternal peace. Condolences and memories can be shared with the family at McEachnie Funeral Home.
