Darlene Diane Frizzle
02-Aug-1946 - 18-Mar-2025
Darlene Diane Frizzle (née Brown) passed away on March 18, 2025, at the age of 78, after a courageous battle with a brief illness.
Born on August 2, 1946, in St. Catharines, Ontario, to Vera and Willard Brown, Darlene was one of five sisters. She spent her early years in the Niagara area, surrounded by the love and laughter of her sisters and cousins. Darlene shared a special bond with her twin sister Marlene, as well as her other sisters Geraldine, Marilyn, and Joan. Together, they formed a lifelong bond of love and support, which recently included a daily tradition of competing in Wordle, keeping them connected and laughing every day.
In her adult life, Darlene moved to Ajax to start a family, where she was welcomed into a close-knit community of neighbours and friends. Her warmth and caring nature left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. Darlene had a quiet strength and selfless spirit; even during difficult times, she was more concerned about others than herself. Whether she was sewing Halloween costumes or personal shopping for her grandkids, Darlene found joy in helping others. Her dry, humorous quips were a constant source of laughter for those around her.
She cherished her time at the family cottage, where some of the happiest moments were spent, including annual birthday celebrations surrounded by loved ones. She also found peace in her walks along the Ajax waterfront with her close friends Sara and Chris. Darlene was deeply grateful for the unwavering love and support of her Frizzle family. They were a constant source of strength, always there to help with anything needed.
Darlene was a devoted wife to Blake for 46 years until his passing in July 2020, and a loving mother to John and Carolyn. She was incredibly proud of her children and took great joy in watching them grow and start families of their own. She was also a cherished mother-in-law to Madelaine and Jason, always offering her love and support. Darlene’s greatest joy came from her grandchildren—Keston, Carter, Lydia, and Margot. They were the light of her life, and she treasured every moment spent with them.
A service to celebrate Darlene’s life will be held at McEachnie Funeral Home, 28 Old Kingston Road, Ajax, ON on Monday, March 24, from 4-7 p.m. A small ceremony will follow, where Darlene will be laid to rest alongside her parents in St. Catharines at Victoria Lawn Cemetery, 431 Queenston St, on April 5, 2025, at 10am.
