Margot Margarete Froehlich

January 16, 1931 – November 21, 2024

It is with great sorrow that I announce the passing of my mother, Margot Margarete (Gretel) Froehlich, on November 21, 2024. Predeceased by her beloved husband Karl. Much missed by her daughter Marianne, her nephew Charlie and his wife Grace and their children Emily & Ryan Harrington, Michael & Melissa Hudsonroder, and their children.

Gretel and Karl immigrated after the war and built a new life in Canada. Karl worked two jobs until retirement while Gretel looked after the home and family. After Karl’s death, Gretel found new joy and purpose volunteering at the Pickering Museum Village. She was also a partner in transporting injured turtles to rehab and other injured and orphaned birds and animals to Shades of Hope. If this were not enough, she also crocheted baby blankets through Hooks and Needles for third-world countries.

She thoroughly enjoyed months at the cottage, her trip to Nova Scotia, many long country drives, and eating out with friends at favourite restaurants.

She will be very much missed by her neighbours, her many friends at the Pickering Museum Village, and her fur grandkids, Shelby and Zoe.

Also survived by her son, two granddaughters, a great-granddaughter, and a great-grandson.

Deepest gratitude to Dr. Natalie Munn and nurses Lilia, Emma, Helena, and Shannon, as well as PSWs Tracy and Chantelle for their compassionate and kind care of my beloved mother.

Mum and Dad are now forever together. Auf Weidersehn.

Private arrangements have been entrusted to the WAGG FUNERAL HOME, 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905-985‑2171). If desired, memorial donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the Shades of Hope Wildlife Refuge. Memories, photos, and condolences may be shared at www.waggfuneralhome.com.
